WE NEED YOU!

Special Touch has served approximately 98,000 people since beginning in 1982. Yet there are more than 58 million people in America with disabilities. On average, disability literally touches 1 in 5 people.

Since 2009, volunteers from all over America have helped raise thousands of dollars in this annual fundraising campaign. Last year’s event raised over $25,000 which was invested directly into programs that provided services for people impacted by disability. This included people like Jason. Read Jason’s story and “Working Together” by clicking here.

In 2012, we must surpass last year’s total in order to expand desperately needed services for people with disabilities and their families. This year’s groups of bowling fundraisers from across the country will be working on behalf of our local Special Touch Chapters and Summer Get Away Programs to provide even more opportunities in local communities for people impacted by disability! The major portion of funds raised will remain with each local group with some revenue set aside for the purpose of expanding Special Touch services in communities where those services are currently not available.

How donations ease and enrich the lives of people impacted by disability?

The funds you raise through the Bowl Across America event will go directly to the budget of local participating groups enabling them to fund programs and supports that will make a positive difference in the lives of people impacted by disability in their communities. Without your help our local Special Touch groups cannot provide a “faith based” response to the needs that arise in the disability community. Besides supporting the local efforts of these groups, a portion of the funds you raise also enable the National organization to expand and support these following services and more:

  • Summer Get Aways – A faith-based camp/retreat/vacation experience for people impacted by disability.

  • Special Touch Chapters of America – Local support groups that meet monthly, enriching the lives of people impacted by disability through the exchange of helpful information, resources, encouragement, and opportunities for fun and friendship.

  • STARS: Special Touch Associated Residential Services- A vision for the near future to provide a faith-based living environment for people with intellectual disabilities and an Assisted Living experience for people with physical disabilities.

  • Cyber-Ministry- Spiritual Support and Pastoral Care provided through the Internet and Social Media Outlets, including Bible Study opportunities, Chats, Discussion Boards and relevant Blogs.

  • Media Production- Theme oriented videos, Curriculum and Teaching Supports and Summer Get Away memories on DVD.

  • Support Service Outreach- Providing Consulting and Disability Friendly supports to Churches and organizations wishing to include people with disabilities in their programs and events.

  • Publications- Special Touch Books, Disability Ministry Materials, Newsletters, electronic Newsletters and free-lance articles and discussion materials for magazines and journals.

  • Curriculum Development- Producing the Word Walk Curriculum for our local Chapters and Special Needs Sunday School and small group curriculum.

  • Conferences, Retreats, & Training Events- All with a Disability Emphasis

  • Church Ministries- Providing Disability Ministry consulting and Training to equip the local church.
