Ministry Lane: Strategic Plan Guide
Follow these four rules to ensure your individual plan is actionable, realistic, and ready for you to execute:
- 1. Own the Calendar: Only list goals you can 100% complete within this specific reporting period. If your project is long-term, list only the “Phase 1” milestones you will finish now.
-
2. Use the “How Many” Rule: Skip vague words like “improve” or “grow.” If you can’t count it, it’s not a goal.
✘ Bad: “Improve the greeting team.”
✔ Good: “Personally recruit and train 5 new greeters by the end of Q2.” - 3. Limit to 2 “Big Wins”: Trying to do everything means doing nothing well. Identify the two specific moves that will move the needle most for your ministry lane.
- 4. Personal Ownership: Since you are the sole driver of these goals, ensure they are objectives you can realistically accomplish. You are the lead on these.
The “Quick Check” Test:
“If I look at this on the final day of the period, will I be able to say a definitive ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ to whether I finished it?”
